Turn in Last Week's Homework a_phale October 9 2007, 13:30:39 UTC
Your homework for is to keep a dream journal for the next week. One of your handouts has some good pointers on methods for keeping them. When you come to the next class, I'd like you to bring a written interpretation of one of the dreams from your journal. Now, we'll move on to today's class exercise.

Lana turned in a detailed interpretation of one of the many nightmares she'd had over the past week. Her dream journal was full of them or notations explaining that she had not slept on a particular night.

-Does charging money for telling fortunes affect the validity of a prediction?
-Do fortune-teller con artists harm the reputation of "real" seers?
-How can legitimate prophets and seers counteract the public perception of fortune-tellers as cons?

"I don't think it necessarily changes the validity of a prediction," Lana said. "But the ones who seem to be out for anything they can get certainly make me wonder."

"I agree with what Lana said," was Eve's opinion. "There's nothing wrong with making money where you can -- as long as you're doing it to have money to live off of. Because you need to make a living, after all. But if you take advantage of people and con them out of money, then there's no excuse for it."

She thought a moment. "And yeah, the con artists definitely harm the reputation of people who actually are seers. Because people are more reluctant to believe in real seers and fortune-tellers and other equally talents."

"Well, everyone needs to make a living, if you happen to be psychic, why shouldn't you charge for what you do best?"
