"Meet your new pet! You will have them until the end of class, please don't let them die, and try not to traumatize them. They may, on the other hand, traumatize you, depending.

"You will be expected to research your pet's needs and provide for them accordingly. If you have difficulty, please see me after class or you may stop by my shop during business hours."

Lana was frankly terrified of her assigned 'pet'. Especially since she'd been terrorized by them in detention once. She tried to remind herself that Dr. Grissom had loved them and they couldn't be that bad, but she couldn't imagine being able to sleep knowing one was in her room.

Naminé lifted the tiny shell into her palm and watched as legs and eyes poked themselves out. The hermit crab began crawling forward slowly, giving her an unwary glance.

"Hello," she said softly. "It's all right, I won't hurt you. You can go back into your shell, if you'd like. But I assure you, it's safe."

She wondered idly about a name. It probably wouldn't do to call him Sebastian ...
