I liked Emily's arc, but to end it with such an predictable cope-out? Ew... They were so obvious that the scene in Paris was unnecessary. Damn, it was a good character. What a waste.

I liked _almost_ all of her character arc - or would have without the cop-out leaving me feel like the whole thing was pointless. ...I'm bitter.

I think they aren't reasonably certain they aren't bringing her back. Paget's departure isn't positive, at least not to the execs, until she says whether or not her Fox comedy pilot has a chance at a few episodes. If it gets picked up, she won't come back, but there's a good chance it won't get optioned for any episodes and she'll be able to maybe come back to CM if she wants to.

I don't watch the show often (usually tune in for the guest star if it's someone I really like, watch re-runs on oaccasion) but given how TV works, this was my first thought, that it was about keeping it open for her to come back if they wanted to do that.

Also even if the show works out she could do guest spots as well.

I would LOVE to see her back? But right now the story just makes me go 'why'. Like. Could they not have not done the death notification onward and just leave them sitting and worried kind of thing? It's the emotional whiplash that's getting me with that one I think. I'll get over it, but um. Not my favorite plot ever.

I actually didn't mind it, tbh, since Paget is still deciding what she wants to do. At least it leaves the door open and plays into the whole "Lauren Reynolds is dead" theme, only this time it's "Emily Prentiss is dead". Also, there's no promise that Doyle wouldn't come after the team (Emily's 'family') in order to get leverage from her regarding info on his son. This is her way to protect them... again. Maybe it was predictable, but it fits into the arc they created ( ... )

Oh, I know it fits her characterization. I don't mind it happening. I mind them going through the whole 'jerk the viewer through the viewer with the ENTIRE death/notifcation/reactions and then add the extra scene. I like getting to see the team's reaction to her death, don't get me wrong, it just seems like stopping on the on camera stuff could have left it open re: Pagent coming back without the emotional whiplash. Conversely? It'll be REALLY fun to watch reactions if she does pop up again.

I like your thoughts re: Hotch and actually got there after I'd buggered off after my bitch about WTF re: Emily.

OMG, this. Especially once they realize Hotch (and JJ) knew. There will be sparks flying indeed.

this is an old post to be doing my "hai I friended you" comment on. but you just said exactly what I did when I was watching that episode. such a miserable cop-out.

I don't have any CM icons, which maybe it's time I hunted some down. But Harry expresses my feelings about shows apparently lacking the guts to kill off any main characters EVER.

Awesome and thank you. I will get you friended back - I've been fairly inactive lately, thanks to real life, but I will be be picking up again shortly ;-)

Also? SERIOUSLY. JUST DO IT. I hate the cop-outs.
