It's about the Doctor. The Doctor being awesome and scary and dangerous and magnificent and amazing and heroic and selfish and ancient and immature.

SO MUCH YES. ...I either have drabbles or a lot of babbly meta wanting to solidify in my head, but right now I'm still too flaily and incoherent to settle and write it.

...I need a Donna icon. She rocks so hard and she is JUST what he needs, more so than I'd hoped, even.

YAY! Babbly meta or drabbles either would be fantastic. And Donna? So totally even better than I'd hoped, for him. And I had HIGH hopes.

There aren't very many, because I've just gotten started, but;

I think this is what I got from the episode, despite having to keep my eyes closed for chunks ;) The Doctor/Donna dynamic is so perfect - she keeps up with him in the comedy so well, doesn't flinch from the hard stuff and she really feels more independent, like Old School companions. She's there for the adventure, and only tangentially for him, IYSWIM. Romp is definitely the word for it, and it's awesome.

As you say, it's like he's taken on all his earlier traits, all he got from Rose and Martha, and that makes Donna the right person for him now. He's growing up, and it's so good to see.

YES! He's growing and she feels like an oldschool companion and it just. Wins.

My satisfaction with the episode is on a more basic level: The Doctor carrying a watergun everywhere he goes and the latin phrases being translated into 'celtic'. That alone made the episode for me. What you said was all love too, but I was too busy giggling over those two things to notice until after I was almost done squealing with joy.

I quickly went though three thoughts:

1. What the hell is that?

2. Oh my god, that's a water pistol, that's so awesome.

3. Wait a minute. Why the fuck is he carrying a water gun? Did he somehow predict he would come up against this exact situation? Or does he just carry one around at all times, just in case?

I think his pockets are bigger on the inside *nods* Or linked to the TARDIS. or in a different dimension. ...I just love that show. It's so casually cracky.

I love it too! The lack of romance is definitely a plus where I'm concerned.

I went to Pompeii once, and I was remembering the houses and the floor mosaics and things that were left there. It made this episode even more fun.

Oh, that sounds *awesome* and I'm jealous.

And yeah. Big plus.

Romp! Yes! I think that's what I used to describe it last week. It's fun and light and it has heavy moments but they're not overdone and Donna is *wonderful*.
