They admit they screwed up and are looking into reinstatement and have announced an appeals process.

More as it transpires - as of 8 am eastern time, pornish_pixies hadn't been restored but they've said that things will be within the next 7 hours or so, and if they're not, an appeal still can be made.

I'm actually glad that LiveJournal/SixApart at least made an attempt at an apology.

Personally, I may not be satisfied with the explanation, but I am satisfied with the apology. "We screwed up, we're sorry" is far more than I really expected.

Plus, it looks like, in the future at least, there will be some sort of actual grievance process before journals are suspended/deleted. That would be more in the spirit of the ToS. A step in the right direction....

I am glad that they have taken blame for it, though they know that everyone is talking about taking legal action and the loss of trust throughout fandom communities (which there are many), so really they had no choice. And you're right, it does seem like a first draft that's more like "mrr, here, I'll have to write this to make you all shut up," but seems like a scheme to make all parties happy for the moment, but no real statement of protecting us from wrongful accusations and arbitrary suspensions.

Hopefully a re-write of the ToS will be made that include all content terms/etc, in a non-ambigious way, that'll put everyone who abides by it in a position of not being so afraid of getting their groups and journals suspended.

I am glad that they have come out with an apology, like I said, and I await to see restorations and action taken to protect us from this happening again.
