Avatar Mitten
I have just finished knitting one of a pair of mittens that are very fandom-inspired.
Sokka and Katara's mitten design really interested me. I'd made mittens, but not gloves, and this looked like a fun transition for me, and also an opportunity to play with good yarn (Cascade 220). I knew that the Avatar world didn't have any knit items, but I designed a knit mitten inspired by the Water Tribe.
The back of the mittens. You can see the water tribe moon symbol on the back of the hand, and a lattice pattern on the fingers. The forefinger is separate, like the Southern Water Tribe's mittens.
The palm of the mittens. The thumb has a circle design reminiscent of the full moon, and the palms continue the wave pattern on the back. There's no design on the forefinger, because it constricted my finger too much.
And here it is on a human hand.
