The 26th century? Susan assumed it was Earth. There was something comforting in knowing that there were other times where Earth would actually survive, or hell, maybe never have to deal with the threat that is the Shadows. Of course, then, that would beg the existence of the First Ones... and, well... the commander was military. That, she'd leave for better minds than her own as far as philosophy and physics was concerned ( ... )

The response of Marcus to the proposal caused Stephen to pause. He looked between the pair, brows furrowed ever so slightly as he tried to guage responses. He knew the pair, better even then Susan at least knew him. He'd worked with Susan longer then this Susan had worked with him. While the sly grin was there on Marcus' face, so was the almost goofy look of a man revelling in the fact that the woman he loved said yes ( ... )

There were several ways he could have responded, until Stephen's lips landed soundly on his own. His grin faltered for a fraction as surprise took over, then returned in force.

He glanced to Nine (POOC: Sorry, we seem to be skipping ahead of you! :D Chip in when you're ready) and then to Susan, before turning coyly to Stephen again.

"So, I guess, from that reaction, if I ask for a divorce you won't say no?"

It was a running joke, from their time on Mars. But even now the memories of how they'd had to pose as husband and... husband still made the pair of them giggle.

At least Stephen hadn't threatenend to shoot him yet!

What was to come next took Susan completely by surprise. She was stunned, and before she could react, Stephen grabbed her up in his arms and swung her around, much to her astonishment. "Stephen--!" She couldn't even get out a full thought on the matter before she was roundly kissed by the man ( ... )

Stephen gave Marcus a grin, "We don't need a divorce, you were declared dead remember?" He shook his head, "How easily they forget. I am a widower now ( ... )

Now would be the worst moment to laugh, but Marcus couldn't help the huge grin of humour that filled his face. Susan's dawning expression was priceless.

He then swung his gaze back to Marcus, "My mother will be so disappointed. It seems I am forever doomed to bachelorhood. First Michael rejected me, then Susan, and now you are wanting to marry someone else."

Marcus put on a mock-abashed look "Well, technically, you're not a bachelor, you were married, so that does, in law, make you a widower." He grinned mischeviously.

Then as Stephen mentioned the game of I-spy, he found he couldn't contain the laughter any longer and clutched his sides as his joviality took over. He hadn't laughed this loudly or long for a very, very long time.

"Wow. We must have been pretty desperate if we sent the two of you," Susan replied dryly. She looked between the two and their banter... something really must have happened for the pair to have become such great friends... because they weren't quite this... chummy, at least to her knowledge? A single brow rises, the smirk playing on her face a key indication that she was probably about ready to break out laughing at the very thought of the pair actually not killing each other ( ... )

Stephen grinned at Susan, "I think you guys were really desperate, that or I irritated someone. I'm still not entirely sure which it is. Do you have any idea what it is like being stuck in a cargo hold with -him- for three days?" Stephen jerked his thumb in Marcus' direction when he says that.

Stephen turned his attention to Marcus, "I will let you explain the game of 'I spy'." Stephen shook his head and then grinned at Susan, "Oh and he likes playing with his denn'bok when bored." Take that one as you will, given the gleam in Stephen's eyes.
