Sam's quarry stank. He strode out of the jungle praying that the pair of dead,
overgrown lemmings he carried -- he hadn't a clue what the Corgi-sized rodents were -- hadn't permanently stunk

With a good run under her belt after the 'meeting of the minds', which served to get her feelings on the matter of, well, her feelings, and muddy the water a bit more (after all, the Ranger trained with the Minbari, and they were almost the master, behind Vorlons ( ... )

"Hi, Sam." Sam looked up to find Susan standing a few feet in front of him. In civilian clothes and with her hair done up with the orchid he'd left her she looked... wow. "Thank you."
Sam grinned from ear to ear as he stood up. "You're welcome." He nodded at the flower in her hair. "It suits you."
Someone nearby wolf whistled. A quick look around found that wanker Sawyer leering at Susan. Sam glared a warning, but kept quiet. Saying anything only egged on the obnoxious Yank.
He turned back to Susan. "Have you eaten?"

"We went jogging earlier," John clarified.
"Ah." Sam took another bite of well-done nutria. He almost wished it had some pink to it, then remembered that he was eating rodent. Well done seemed to be for the best. "Since you lot enjoy running, perhaps we could organize a football match. Soccer, you Yanks call it, right?"

Twisting around, a single brow rose in askance in response to the whistle. She, too, knew better than to encourage with any more than a silent 'acknowledgement'.
"Thank you, by the way, for cooking." Susan chuckled. "Not something I can do-- Oh! John. Yes... after this..." She pointed at the meat on the 'plate'. "Running tomorrow. If I'm going to wear you out, I might at least have fun doing it." She grinned at the other commander as she took her seat once more.
With the plate in her lap, the fronds to the side of her, she started eating-- carefully. It was good, and she honestly hadn't realized how hungry she was. "Mmm... That.. okay. I'm not going to ask what it is. I've learned that ( ... )

she [Susan] looked across the fire from her, the smile turned smirk. "I hear the sound of a gauntlet dropping, John." Her tones were softly goading... all specifically meant to egg the other officer on.
John looked up from biting into the meat he was holding in his fingers, blue eyes flicking from Susan to Sam and back. He chewed and swallowed and nodded. "I was wondering what that sound was. A gauntlet, eh? Well, I've never been the one to stand idly by while gauntlets were being dropped near or around my general vicinity." He looked over at Sam and grinned at him, "I think that a soccer match is a fantastic idea. We played volleyball, might as well give some of the other sports a try. Just need to come up with a do-able soccer ball, using that basketball will break a toe."
He took another bite of meat and cast an innocent, mischevious look over at Ivanova. "Does this mean you'll be a cheerleader, then?"

Staying in the shade was important, unless she wished to use up a lot of sunscreen. Something in a limited supply.
So it was that dinner was her first time meeting some of the new people.
"Thanks be to the hunters and the cooks." It did smell good. Tomorrow she was on the cooking slate, so she planned to savor the work of others while she could.
She tood with her full plate beside one of the new people. A dark skinned man she understood was a doctor.
"Would you mind if I joined you?"

The group including Ivanova and Marcus were the happily loud ones. However, the mere sight of the Russian Commander got Ami's hackles up, so Scott looked for another group to join.
The couple carried their "plates" of food over to Oona and Dr. Franklin. "Hey," Scott greeted as he and Ami settled on one of the driftwood logs. "Did you enjoy the holiday. Or your first day, as the case may be."

"I take it that the ROUSes really exist, then?" Ami joked as she accepted a bit of the meat.

He eyed the remaining slices of meat and the other chunk still roasting over the fire. "These two aren't going to go far when feeding this many people, though. If we're going to eat ROUSes for dinner we're going to need more or bigger."
Blaise offering a platter of sliced fruits--one of the actual service pieces from first class on Oceanic 815. Plastic and a little rough on one end but still usable. "Plenty of fruit, though. Mango?"

"I thought you'd have noticed that I actually own a set last physical you made me go through."
John burst into laughter and tried to cover it up by coughing, putting a fist to his mouth. "Whoa, yeah, sorry about that, got something caught in my throat." He coughed a little more, hitting the center of his chest with his fist before managing to get his laughter under control. He grinned over at Susan, he honestly liked her, she was very much like Aeryn in some ways and lot different from her in others.
"What's the watch rotation overnight? It's actually something I can help with." Which then allowed Susan and Marcus to hotbunk, assuming, of course, the Ranger chose to take a shift as well. "I assume four hours on, four off?" She paused ( ... )

Stephen then turned his attention to Rodney for a moment, "Wait, what's a Wraith... And do hermit crabs actually race? That would be... interesting." Well you have to have some entertainment around here, right?
The more serious conversation of patrols did catch Stephen's attention and he turned to John to reply to it, "I can help with those patrols." He may be a doctor but he's also a soldier, not that he's mentioned it, but the fact still remains.
