Just a thought: I've been pimping this, and some fannish friends who are not at all involved with online fanfic or anything have followed the prompts back to Fandom Gives -- and been totally confused, because the whole Strikethrough thing was utterly transparent to them, and the community expects them to already have a basic understanding of May 29th, etc.
They're nice fannish people, who may very well decide to give to these good causes -- IF there were a clearer explanation and description of what we're trying to do with this, and why.
I guess what I'm trying to say is this: if the intro were reworded to be a little easier to understand for someone coming to it completely new, we might find that Fandom Gives can become a more lasting, general-purpose fannish charitable awareness community ....
Hey, I'm flat broke but I've opened up a donations for fic post as an incentive for people to vote. I just thought I'd mention it here as a suggestion, and maybe you could get other fanauthors and fanartists to do the same in an effort to get more donations.
I've pimped everywhere I can think of; the comm is a wonderful idea. :)
OT Question: How does one create a proper sticky post? I'm asking here because yours is the first one I've seen. The best I know to do is future date an entry, but that messes up how my other entries are seen by my flist.
