I believe elaboration's piece was hosted on lj's scrapbook. I don't know about ponderosa121's.

I read in elaboration's letter that her image was hosted on LJ's scrapbook feature. However, I am not sure about ponderosa121.

Ah, but you're right though~ LJ is not the artist/author. They don't have the right to decide what does and doesn't have merit. That's up to the creator.

They have no clue what we were thinking when we write/draw things, so they shouldn't be the one to even attempt it. Bastards. >.>

Artistic value isn't decided solely by the creator, or even their supporters (or every 8-year-old's fridge art would be in galleries)... but yes, it's also not decided on the basis of how much it doesn't squick a particular viewer.

Currently, they're measuring artistic value against the amount of sex in a piece... which is not what the legal precedent is. (Maplethorpe, anyone?) And, of course, they're deciding "offensive by community standards" based on the standards of employees of one company that has a financial and social stake in the decision.

If they're doing things by "offensive by community standards," then I wonder what they'll do with burr86.

I had posted this in an older thread, but figured it would get more views if I moved it up to this one.

maybe you should tell people not to post icons either ^^ Icons are cool but I'm not sure it's the right place to post them.

You're right. Done and done.
