After receiving Susan's message Wilson had made sure Phale was settled with everything he needed, that Phoebe and Bel were comfortable and then he'd taken Cash and headed up to the school ( Read more... )

Susan had slept in the teacher's lounge, and not really enjoyed it. Mostly because she kept dreaming she saw an enormous pink bear outside the room, and that, combined with her flight of fancy earlier in the day, kept her supremely unsettled. But she'd managed to pull herself together and make herself up presentably despite that.

"Dr. Wilson?" she asked, leaning in the door, then smiling shyly as she came in. "I'm Susan Pevensie. I believe I left you a voice mail, I hope you got it, otherwise I'm not sure if you know who I am."

Handing her a cup of tea, Wilson leaned his hip against the desk and sipped at his own mug as he listened to her questions.

"I've heard on the grapevine that the offer of employment letters tend to be a little...sparse on details." One corner of his lips lifted and he pursed his lips thoughtfully.

"We are still in Virginia in the United States of America. Far as I can...think to explain it, this is a moment in the fabric of the four dimensions of the universe where all threads have the potential to cross and as such we have a very diverse population."

Susan sipped the tea, calming somewhat with the smell of mint and Wilson's matter-of-factness on the subject. "I see. I think." She frowned, and took another drink, thinking harder. "So there's-- more than one Island, and more than one Virginia, and they overlap here?"

"I don't suppose..." It really was too much to hope for. "I don't suppose there is anyone here, students or faculty, from, oh, say, Telmar? Or Terebinthia? Or possibly, they've mentioned Archenland?"

Susan would not say Narnia, because the disappointment if he denied it might have choked her.

The world was infinitely more possible than she'd thought it had been for the last fifteen years. She didn't dare disturb that hope just yet.

Nodding, he took another sip of tea and smiled a little ruefully. "I believe, in as much as I'm able to get my mind to comprehend it all, that that is the case indeed. I haven't heard of anyone from those places but the student body does seem to rotate every term so there is nothing to say we 'won't' have a student or a faculty member...or a business owner from those places at some point."

Pausing, he chuckled softly and intoned the quote. "My but people so seem to come and go quickly around here. You should find yourself getting used to it. It took me awhile but now adays I tend to only stop and think about it in moments like this, when I hear myself talking about things that I never even imagined, as if it is the every day...which it really is."

Watching her trying to wrap her mind around all of it, he softened a little...though she was still a ... shrink.

"Do you have a place to stay?" Because it helped, to have a spot to go that was yours. That you had control over...at least, Wilson was finding that having The Loft was

"Um?" Susan shook herself out of her thoughts, and sighed. "No, although the Mauvaise Chance apartments have been recommended to me. I do hope they have a vacancy. I'd rather have a space to myself, because I know how much of my time the students will take up if I let it." She smiled ruefully. "I must seem thoroughly stupid to you, to have taken this job and not recognized what was going on around me. I just...." She waved a hand, trying to articulate it. "I'm afraid those in my profession are more willing to believe in hallucinations most of the time. I thought I was going mad."

"Around here, you'll find that it's easier to take things at face value and work from there." Wilson suggested with a smile.

"Listen...just to be clear. I'm not a big fan of your profession for the very reason you just listed, among others but it's nothing personal against you." He reached up and rubbed the back of his head, a subtle sort of apology for having gotten sharp earlier.

"The MC should be good bet, I've just recently moved down into Town myself. Have you been shown around? There are some wonderful places in the Town."

"I had a quick tour through, after I stopped for lunch, but nothing significant. And the map I was given was evidently several years out of date. It looked lovely, though. Very charming." Susan cocked an eyebrow. "Kiki said something about a -- Perkolator? That it served good coffee?"

"For what it's worth, you may have more or less reason to dislike me when I tell you that I'm a practicing psychologist-- Jungian tradition-- as well as a psychiatrist. I did a double accreditation program at Oxford." Susan shrugged philosophically. "And I'm used to a certain amount of wariness. I promise, I do *not* analyze people out of office hours. Far too much effort. I prefer a good book."

"The Perk has good coffee, The Rare Book Shop has excellent tea, books and just is a great place to go and relax. You might particularly find it's good to talk to Aziraphale. Caritis is a good place to go make a fool out of yourself and the Pub is a great place for a drink and some pool. Oh and most important, The Emporium is the place to go for just about all your day to day needs."

Quick down and dirty tour of the town!

Smiling at her a little warily he gave a bow of his head. "Well...we'll see how it goes. Come on, I'll show you the rest of the Clinic."

[ooc: Was going to invite her to dinner but as you have to go...quick tours everywhere! :D]

Finishing her tea, Susan said, "Thank you. I'll keep all that in mind. And thank you for your patience during my moment of cognitive dissonance." She smiled. "Right. Let's see it, then."

[np, and gracias for the roleplay!]
