FTEC, Sunday Morning

Jun 11, 2006 08:12

The clinic's open early, a pot of coffee is brewing, and Janet's reviewing medical charts on anyone brought in last night.

OOC: Slowplay may have to happen; please mod the FH Nurse if I do not reply as quickly as you'd like. If you're a clinic patient, please post yourself into the appropriate exam room. And wait for the OCD. Ready to post.

The desk, some comfortable chairs, and coffee. Lots of it.

Peter walked into the clinic with his left arm still in a sling. He really should have come in last night, but sleep happened instead. "Hello. I think I need a tune-up, maybe an oil change. Or, actually, maybe just a x-ray and cast."

Janet raised one eyebrow. "Sorry, Peter, the mechanic's off-duty. Step into the first exam room and we'll see what we can do about the x-ray and cast."

OOC: Much handwavey on the medical stuff is likely to happen.

Sam took a deep breath and a cup of coffee. She wondered if she should wait until Janet was off-duty, but ultimately decided that would be cowardly.

She did glance once or twice for a door and memorized at least three avenues of escape out of the clinic.

The Lab janet_fraiser June 11 2006, 13:16:58 UTC
Not open to non-clinic staff; Janet can escape to the lab to confer privately with someone. (i.e., please don't post to this thread w/o invitation)

Following Janet's instructions, Peter had a seat in the exam room and prepared for handwaviness on medical stuff.

"You've got a slight fracture in your radius," said Janet, studying the xrays. She bit back a question on what the hell had happened. "Unless you heal faster than normal--which I doubt, from the looks of those cuts--let's get you into a cast, shall we?"

"I do heal a bit faster than normal, but it's not fast enough for this kind of thing, unfortunately," Peter said. "Any clue how long I'll have to wear it?"

Hopefully unnecessary, but ready.

Xander and Bridge arrived in the afternoon after sleeping in pretty damn late. As you do when you're tired, bruised, fractured, splinted, and stayed up half the night with your mildly-concussed boyfriend to make sure 'midly' didn't turn into something else. The clinic nurse waved both of them into Exam 2 when it was clear that they were just going to keep giving her puppydog looks if she made one of them wait outside.

While she was setting up the X-ray machine for Xander's hand, he was peering worriedly towards the door. "I wonder how Buffy's doing."

Bridge follows Xander's gaze to the door. "I'm sure she's okay," Bridge says. "I mean, if there wasn't, there'd probably be people running around all over the place in here doing... doctor-y things."

Xander nods slowly. "This isn't really the Buffy I know; she's younger. As young as she was when I first met her. But..." He holds out his splinted hand and winces as the nurse unwraps it for the X-ray. "She's still Buffy. I worry."

With luck, this room is quiet too.

"Yes, I can see how the week of plagues wouldn't have given you enough warning time to gather everyone in the library for a planning meeting like usual," said Janet dryly, thinking that at least this explained why the library had been open last week.

She opened up a drawer and pulled out a hospital gown, holding it out for Sam. Watching how Sam moved when she changed would give her evidence of where the injuries Sam that wouldn't tell her about were. Because of course Sam wasn't going to tell her about all of the injuries.

"So. Where are you injured? Aside from the obvious." Janet eyed a particularly bad scrape and a bruise that was already blooming dark purple on Sam's skin.

Sam moved a little slowly, wincing as she bent or twisted or did anything that pulled at her ribcage. "My head and wrist."

"Dizziness? Blurred vision? Blackouts?" asked Janet in a rapid tone that Sam was quite familiar with. She frowned at Sam's movements. "What happened to your ribs? Were you bitten or scratched by the mummies?" Janet wanted to keep any mummy-borne diseases completely theoretical--because ugh, ancient corpses could carry who knew how many infectious agents--which meant those scrapes were coming in for a thorough disinfecting. That was probably going to sting a hell of a lot.

Not that Janet would enjoy that or have issues about people putting their lives in danger without her being there to help. Not at all.
