Clinic Hours

Sep 21, 2005 16:07

Lisa slinks into the Clinic. Her last three times here have been rather traumitizing, first she made psycho_jackass grow an abnormally large amount of body hair, then she was faced with the jackass new Clinic Security, and then a student who was passed out on the floor.

To keep her mind off of her troubles, she makes a new bulletin board.

Drinking with Barbossa? No wonder you're hungover! )

Angelus walks into the clinic with a small bundle held under one arm. Anyone looking out into the hallway prior to him walking through the clinic doors might have noticed him primping a bit. Outfit is black jeans, blue button-down shirt with the collar open to at least three buttons.

He walks in and looks around, trying to assess if Cuddy's there, if she's busy, and, if the answer to both is yes, where he could be out of the way until she's done.

[ooc: LOVE the graphic.]

"Who, me? Nah," Angelus shook his head, but looked flattered by the suggestion. "I can't make heads or tails of it. Besides, I don't have time. I've got classes, the club, plus I just got a new job."

"I know what you mean - with classes, the Clinic, and Science Club I don't have much of a social life."

Lisa blushes slightly, uncomfortable with admitting that to Angelus.

"I did hang out with Barbossa the other night though. Now that's a guy who knows how to have a good time. Although I suppose that comes with the territory of being a pirate."

"So... where is your new job?"

"Yeah, I saw the sign," he indicated it with his thumb. "Cute." He then ducked his head, as though belatedly realizing that the last word might have sounded like he was talking about her.

"Uh, yeah, work," he said, with the attitude of one happy for a non-embarassing topic. "In town. Coroner's office. I'll be helping out with the counseling. My boss seems really nice. I told her about the whole sordid history and it sounds like she's just interested in if I can do a good job in the here and now. Here's hoping I can, huh?"

"Are you mocking my poster? It is not cute, it's informative!"

She gives him a wicked smirk, and continues.

"That sounds like a great opportunity, good for you. Although I hope I don't send you any work, no offense."

"None taken," he assured her. Then his mouth curled in a boyishly mischievous grin. "And it could be both. Some things are smart and cute, you know."

"Mmmmm, you're right. Like that little girl from Inspector Gadget - she was smart and cute. Maybe I should start wearing pigtails and get myself a dog."

Lisa's a bit confused. Is he flirting with her? Isn't he dating that Faith girl who is running in the elections? Maybe he is just a flirtatious guy, or maybe he's trying to get something from her. She plays along because it's her nature.

"I like dogs," he said. "I was always more a dog person than cats. And now I'm probably boring you by talking about myself. Sorry. I just thought, you know, you were so nice the other day. I'd come by. Say hi. Say thanks. And - and if you wanted - " he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small box that was mostly hidden by his hand. He looked at it as though not certain if he should give it to her or not. "I... this may have meanings that I don't intend. A lot of things I do tend to end up like that. I - I'm not trying to offend you or anything."

"Ummm... no, that's okay. What were you going to say?"

"I want you - I'd like it if you had this," he held out a slightly water stained velvet jewelry box, such as one that might contain a necklace. "I know this probably comes off as more of a boyfriend thing and I'm sure you've already got one already so you can tell him I'm not trying to step on any toes. I like you. I respect you. Which is why I think you should have this."

Lisa stood up and backed away from him slightly.

"Oh no, I really can't. It's not that I have a boyfriend, but really, the magazines were more than enough. They were too much. I probably shouldn't even take those...

I mean, I like you too. I don't want you to be offended! But I really shouldn't... you are way too sweet. I'm not used to people being, nice, I guess. I'm sorry, I've hurt you haven't I? I didn't mean..."

She trails off... standing still with her hands clasped in front of her nervously.

"Oh, great, okay, good one, Angel, you totally ruined this," Angelus chided himself, deliberately using the other name as he did. "I didn't mean it like - not - not that I couldn't ever mean it like - that is - " Angelus sighed. He took a breath and indicated that he hoped Cuddy had the patience to let him start over.

"There's a lot of people saying bad things about me," he said. "And whatever they say about my past is true. All of it. But I'm different now and I wanted to show you that. If you don't want to be my friend, or like me, or even talk to me again that's totally fine. I just wanted to show you that I'd never ever want to hurt you. That's all this means."

"Hey, don't say stuff like that. Ever is a pretty harsh word. I mean, we've only just met each other, but I think everyone is capable of..."

She wants to reassure him, but runs out of things to say. Her voice grew quiet.

"I never could think you'd hurt me. I want to be friends, I'd like that. But maybe you should save it for the next nice thing I do for you. Spread it out as it were."

Lisa puts on a brave smile, but is still worried she has horrifically offended him for no reason. She's just not used to this kind of thing, being a bit of a bookworm.

"But... you should definitely show me what it is. Because now I'm dying of curiosity."

A mix of emotions crosses over Angelus's face: nerves, embarassment, hope that perhaps he still has a chance to at least be friends with her, and relief that at least they're still talking.

"Okay," he said. He opened the box very carefully, his fingertips barely touching the edge of it as he lifted the lid on its hinge. Inside of the box was a necklace with a plain sterling silver cross. Cupping the box from underneath, he held it out to her. "See? I - I just wanted you to know it's okay if you want to be safe from me. I won't be offended."

"It's beautiful. I don't know what to say... I just...

But I don't, I know I don't need it. Angelus, really, I know you couldn't hurt me. I don't need this to make me feel safe around you. The gesture is..."

"Can I hug you? Would that be okay?"

"I - um - sure," the smile that spread across his face was a combination of delight and surprise. Then sheepishness. "Maybe gentle, though. Don't know if the ribs are mended yet."
