Lisa slinks into the Clinic. Her last three times here have been rather traumitizing, first she made
psycho_jackass grow an abnormally large amount of body hair, then she was faced with the jackass new Clinic Security, and then a student who was passed out on the floor.
To keep her mind off of her troubles, she makes a new bulletin board.
(
Drinking with Barbossa? No wonder you're hungover! )
He walks in and looks around, trying to assess if Cuddy's there, if she's busy, and, if the answer to both is yes, where he could be out of the way until she's done.

Lisa blushes slightly, uncomfortable with admitting that to Angelus.
"I did hang out with Barbossa the other night though. Now that's a guy who knows how to have a good time. Although I suppose that comes with the territory of being a pirate."
"So... where is your new job?"

"Uh, yeah, work," he said, with the attitude of one happy for a non-embarassing topic. "In town. Coroner's office. I'll be helping out with the counseling. My boss seems really nice. I told her about the whole sordid history and it sounds like she's just interested in if I can do a good job in the here and now. Here's hoping I can, huh?"

She gives him a wicked smirk, and continues.
"That sounds like a great opportunity, good for you. Although I hope I don't send you any work, no offense."

Lisa's a bit confused. Is he flirting with her? Isn't he dating that Faith girl who is running in the elections? Maybe he is just a flirtatious guy, or maybe he's trying to get something from her. She plays along because it's her nature.

"Oh no, I really can't. It's not that I have a boyfriend, but really, the magazines were more than enough. They were too much. I probably shouldn't even take those...
I mean, I like you too. I don't want you to be offended! But I really shouldn't... you are way too sweet. I'm not used to people being, nice, I guess. I'm sorry, I've hurt you haven't I? I didn't mean..."
She trails off... standing still with her hands clasped in front of her nervously.

"There's a lot of people saying bad things about me," he said. "And whatever they say about my past is true. All of it. But I'm different now and I wanted to show you that. If you don't want to be my friend, or like me, or even talk to me again that's totally fine. I just wanted to show you that I'd never ever want to hurt you. That's all this means."

She wants to reassure him, but runs out of things to say. Her voice grew quiet.
"I never could think you'd hurt me. I want to be friends, I'd like that. But maybe you should save it for the next nice thing I do for you. Spread it out as it were."
Lisa puts on a brave smile, but is still worried she has horrifically offended him for no reason. She's just not used to this kind of thing, being a bit of a bookworm.
"But... you should definitely show me what it is. Because now I'm dying of curiosity."

"Okay," he said. He opened the box very carefully, his fingertips barely touching the edge of it as he lifted the lid on its hinge. Inside of the box was a necklace with a plain sterling silver cross. Cupping the box from underneath, he held it out to her. "See? I - I just wanted you to know it's okay if you want to be safe from me. I won't be offended."

But I don't, I know I don't need it. Angelus, really, I know you couldn't hurt me. I don't need this to make me feel safe around you. The gesture is..."
"Can I hug you? Would that be okay?"
