Marco kisses her before he sits down to breakfast and smiles. "S'funny, isn't it? I mean, that she's called Maia."
Diana gave her one of her patented 'don't geek with me' stares. "Of course she's called Maia, it's not funny at all." She sipped her coffee and wondered how she managed to fall for Marco again.
He waved a hand. "No, I mean, really, it's from the Roman, right? Meaning 'greater'. Likes she's so much more than she looks. It's so cool."
"Actually, it's Greek, and means 'mother', which I'd rather not think about, and if Maia hears you calling her 'greater' her head will grow too big to fit through the apartment door."
Marco pouts, frowning like he's concentrating on what she said. "Oh."
She took pity on him, and smiled indulgently. "She adores you, Marco, and that's all I care about."
He beams happily back at her. "Hey. Thanks, Diana, that means a lot."
And she knows that that is the kind of meaning she likes to hear about.
