PairPuri vol 3 Oshitari Yuushi x Oshitari Kenya
Yuushi x Kenya Cousin Talk [pg.15-17]

In memory of the start of the U-17 camp
Yuushi x Kenya
Cousin Talk

Since they're extremely close, they end up competing with each other!? A battle with definite ups and downs starts!!

text: Shiba Saori
(Gekkan Pro Tennis editor)

Although their play styles and their appearances look different, they're actually pretty similar. What will come out of this talk?

Date: O Month X day
Members: Oshitari Yuushi (Hyoutei Gakuen)
Oshitari Kenya (Shitenhouji)
Host: Shiba Saori (Gekkan Pro Tennis)
Location: U-17 camp dormitory
Time: 17:30~

Yuushi: (Fu~. Practice just ended, yet we still have to converse. I wonder who I'll be talking with and what we'll be talking about. Come to think of it, Atobe said he had a talk too. I'll ask him about how it went...) ♪ beep beep...Atobe? How's it going over there? I'll have a talk soon too?

Yuushi: Who knows. They won't tell me...Looks like the talk before me just ended. Tezuka came out. What's this? Tezuka is surprisingly flustered. I wonder if something happened? The one next to him is Shiraishi and...Kenya!? Kenya, what are you doing here?

Kenya: Yuushi? Some editor from the magazine said I have a paired talk with someone. You too, what are you doing here?

Yuushi: It's kind of like that for me too. Kenya, when and where is yours?

*I do believe they have a typo with the name here. Yuushi says "Yuushi" instead of Kenya.

Kenya: 17:30 in the room over there. You?

Yuushi: 17:30 in the dorms.

Yuushi & Kenya: ....

Yuushi: That means, what, mine is with you!!!!

Kenya: Why am I with you? Can we still change it!!??

Yuushi: It hurts when you talk so loudly right next to my ear. Besides, that should be my line!

Shiba: Ah! What are you two being so loud outside for? There's no time. You should have come in since you're here already. Hurry up and sit down.

Yuushi: Hm, then I'll sit down before Kenya.

Kenya: Heh, like I would let you sit where you want! Not when Naniwa's speed star is here! ...Ah, eh?

Kenya: Che, Yuushi...(sealing off his heart like that...now I can't figure out which seat he wanted.)

Yuushi: S.S.A.S. (Suwaru Seki wo Aitsu ni Satorasenai - not letting him take away my seat)...complete success.

Shiba: Come on guys, sit down already! How long are you going to make a lady wait?

Kenya: Shit, since you're a strange one, the seat you want to sit in has to be the left one!

Yuushi: Heh, I wonder about that.

Shiba: Geez, why do you have to make a big fuss over sitting down in a chair? Let's get into the main topic already. Well, you two don't need any introductions. You're cousins and rivals, and you also feel proud about your schools. Focusing on that! For those who came to the training camp, we asked them in a survey what they think about Hyoutei and Shitenhouji, as well as what they think about the two of you. The people who took the survey are the middle school members who are participating in the current training camp, along with Hitouji-kun and Zaizen-kun to make up 50 people. Tadah! Without holding back, these are the results! (All results are shown on page 18).

Yuushi: Looks like Hyoutei has the upper hand with the number of people who want to attend Hyoutei. Well, that's a given.

Kenya: ...no, before that, is this overwhelming number of "I don't like either" counted as 'no comment'? Besides, in the first place, there are more Hyoutei members answering this survey, so the result is due to that. The guys at our school all chose Shitenhouji...hn? There's one person short! Who is it, who didn't choose our school!?

Yuushi: The person who wrote that his impression of me is of a glasses maniac...how does he know that much detail about me? ...Even among Hyoutei, there are few who know about that...

[♪ piro piro piroo~~~n ♪]

Yuushi: What, what's with this sound that has no sense of tension at all?

Kenya: It's my cell phone. You have a problem with that? I heard about it from Shiraishi that our Zaizen is secretly keeping a cell phone blog. So I set an alarm to alert me whenever he updates his blog. That guy, what did he write this time..."I went with my senpai to the training camp since I thought it would be easy-going, but somehow I got involved too. Give me a break. Really, when it comes to my senpai, they're a bunch of good-for-nothing people." ...It has to be him! The one who sold Shitenhouji out! This guy!!!!

Yuushi: Looks like it's Hyoutei's win in matters of having good-for-nothing kouhai. Take a look at his blog. "He's only fixated on being fast. I don't get him at all." No matter how I look at this, this has to be about you. What's this? "On top of that, this guy's cousin is even weirder. The glasses he wears are fake. He even has countless types of the same kind of glasses. He gives names to all the glasses...what a freak." ...what the heck! The guy who answered with "glasses mania" has to be this guy! "I remember I heard about it from the guy who jumps a lot at Hyoutei." ...G-Gakuto------!

Kenya: Geez, none of them are decent guys.

Yuushi: Seriously, cutting down one's friends surely refers to this!!!

???: Hey, you guys. You've been noisy for quite a while. Can't you be quieter?

Kenya: ...isn't this Seigaku's super rookie? What are you doing here?

Ryoma: Practice ended, so I'm going back to change my clothes. Can't you tell by looking?

Shiba: Eh, Ryoma-kun! Your talk is at 18:00 in the cafeteria! Haven't you heard from Inoue-senpai?

Ryoma: ...come to think of it, I think there was something like that. I forgot.

Kenya: Are you okay, super rookie? It's too early for you to grow senile.

Ryoma: I don't want to be told that from a speed idiot like you.

Yuushi: Such impudent talk from you just like usual, muga (self-actualization) youngster.

Ryoma: Same goes for you, fake Fuji-senpai.

Kenya: ...he's the bastard who said I was a speed idiot...

Yuushi: He's the guy who called me fake Fuji...

Yuushi & Kenya: It has to be him----!!

Kenya: You even tried to make me think highly of him. When one says the child doesn't understand the parent's love, it has to be about him.

Yuushi: Seriously. One after another. There's not a decent guy around.

Kenya: This means you can only trust your true friends.

*friends (miuchi): this word can also mean relatives

Yuushi: That's exactly it. Fu~, that sure made me angry. I'm hungry now. It's still really early, but let's go to the cafeteria.

Kenya: Well then, let's have some tea before eating. I saw a juice store that sells vegetable juice in the training camp.

Shiba: ...w-wait a minute, both of you! Gee~~z, why is everyone leaving on their own!?

Afterword:
Since I heard that they always compete with each other, I prepared myself for a battle scene. In the end, they actually get along super well.
