First of all, thank you to everyone who commented on my last post. I'm finding the post very hard to revisit, which is why I haven't replied to comments directly, but I did appreciate them.
Relatedly, yesterday Mag found this birthday card drawn by our Jan that I think sums up Moth better than any eulogy could:

And all of that cooking sounds lovely. I have been meaning to do more baking, but first we need to eat our freezer empty so that I can defrost it. Then there will be sconemaking. Though if you have advice on how to get flavor to penetrate tofu, I would love to hear it, as I have never had much luck. I *like* the taste of tofu, so that doesn't stop me from eating it, but if I want tofu with flavor I end up spending too much on the frou-frou prepackaged sort.

Baking is a source of great happiness in my life atm. When I'm hitting a bad patch with work, or am in a bit of an emotional dip, baking is one of the most reliable ways of calming myself down. I think it's a combination of how methodical it is, and how satisfying the outcomes are :D
It's funny you should ask about tofu - because I have the same problem, and was going to say that the only ways I know of to get around it are a) just marinate forever, at least a whole afternoon, and b) bake it in whatever marinade/sauce you're using instead of frying or grilling it. BUT, the other night I made a stirfry with tofu that I'd frozen and then defrosted, and it drank up the sauce like nobody's business. I think the freezing/defrosting maybe makes it more porous? So you might want to see if freezing the tofu helps, too.

I hear you on baking -- my first semester of grad school, halfway through exams I sort of came to myself and realized I was standing over a stove, making pudding from scratch, and I wasn't quite sure why. Except that it had to be done.
Freezing does make tofu more porous -- my mom always intentionally froze it when I was a kid just for that effect. But I like it a lot better bland and fresh-textured. I will try the baking thing -- that I haven't done.

I need to start using AO3 more, really - I do love the idea of it, just like I love the idea of the OTW, but I'm really not keen on the interface, either the look of it or how you use it. It's good to hear that it's getting more people writing in animanga and videogame fandoms, though - one of the only things I don't like about the OTW and all its projects is how heavily it skews towards big Western tv fandoms.
I am dying to throw myself back into the AA fandom after Investigations; both Kay and AA:I Franziska have given me major fic urges (although the grand plan I nurtured for most of the game to write the Adventures of Franziska von Karma and Her Lovely Assistant Shih-na (who she somehow poached from Lang), Fighting Crime and Having Hot Sex, got shot in the foot somewhat by Case 5 ;_;). I just don't have the time at the moment, woe ( ... )

Their story is so sad. According to the Word of God (the official artbook, I believe) Dio was picked up by a Guild ship and survived, which at least means Luciola's ending wasn't for nothing. Some of the official art confirms this. Sort of.

I like the system of tags but so far all it's helped me with is "oh... I guess people write fic for that. o.O" I have a lot of trouble getting into Western fandoms, nothing against them, it's some kind of aversion I have to imagining real actors or something. It seems some people who don't otherwise cohesively archive their works in my fandom are using it, though, so I really appreciate that aspect. I like the layout better than FF.net in terms of uploading and so on ( ... )
