Chercher la femme dans la nuit

I've finally finished watching the La Femme Nikita pilot, and have just started on the second episode. I stopped midway through the pilot on account of highly not giving a damn about any of the characters, but now that I've finished it...

1) Alright, so she is extremely beautiful, despite my first opinion to the contrary. She just... should stop ( Read more... )

Keep going! The pilot is one of the weirdest episodes, when you compare it to the rest of canon. It's not really until late season 1 that the show (and the actors) really find their feet for how the it's going to look and feel.

He convinced her simply by looking at her, and we've never seen CW!Michael use his looks that way (or have we and I've forgotten?). This Michael is just as trained in this art as the female agents are, and I dig it. (Or maybe I'm reading too much into a look? I've only seen one episode so far.)

You are not. I loooove Maggie!Nikita, but Dupuis!Michael could kick CW!Michael's arse any time of the day.

Then I cannot wait for the end of S1! I'm just done with 1x03, now. Honestly, my main issue with Dupuis!Michael is not actually with Dupuis!Michael so much as with how very nineties the stunts look and/or are. No more bursting through windows please. It will make any supposedly efficient character look like they care more about style than efficiency, and totally unrealistic to boot, or so I find. (The show looks so 90s/Canadian that I keep expecting Highlander characters to pop up, too.)

But I'm so glad that I didn't read too much into that look, because I won't lie, that's the key moment that made me go "okay, I'm watching more, and I'm watching more tonightThat said, I have a soft spot for CW!Michael in the sense that... well, the guy's so screwed up. Between the stuff with Nikita and the stuff with Alex? He seems incapable of learning a lesson, not to mention inappropriate each and every time. Which is not something you usually see in a show's male lead ( ... )

Yes, this Birkoff is far less sleazy. He's more like this kid who's grown up in Section and is beyond sheltered. I kind of love him, though, and he gets some awesome storylines until the end.

As for Michael: yes. You keep getting those looks. CW!Michael is known for the smooth way he talks and the other Michael is known for how much he doesn't talk and yet still manages to get his point across. In fact, you know that something is up when he DOES talk a lot.
