Finally seeing Jurassic Park in English did nothing to help with my love for Ian Malcolm. I think they did a great job on him, and so did Jeff Goldblum. The whole film is rather good, really. Good characterisation, good action - nothing transcendant, but I can still enjoy watching it now, it lived up to my memories

Hum.... I don't see how I could answer to that, I'm so in love with the English version. And it's not just about what happens in it, all the visual parts, the fascinating Byron character, everything that Dam is going through.... No, it's also about the lack of goat. Er, oups, sorry... I meant, no, it's also about the way it is written.
Translating it in French would be tricky.
It could make it more flat, strip it from all the glimmering layers, and make it look as if something was lacking from it. (Or, well, that's how those who read it in English might see it, maybe it wouldn't be seen that way by the others who would never know what they missed. ;-) )Or it might not, and look fine. But that won't be the easiest translation ever. It'll require a lot of work on the style, to make it match the VO, to make it match the period, to make it match the characters. So.... Good luck? As for TLF, yeah, I know it will be tough. But I don't think I can let it rest. I'm in love with that story too much myself. Besides, Damien's French, and I've only ever seen Byron in French. Logically, I could do it. My main issue is finding translations of his bits of poetry, 'cause I don't think I wanna risk doing it on my onesies.

Yeah, I was supposed to read it. I was supposed to gamma read one of my fic. I was supposed to beta read TLF. I also brought the laptop to work on I-can't-remember-what, and a few books.
I read and did absolutely nothing. I comated for a while in the car (hey, leaving at 8am on a RTT day? Urgh. After 3 hours of sleep? Re-Urgh...) and then just watched the landscape. And the rest of the time was quite busy. Especially when we locked outside of the hotel in the middle of the night with the key cards not working.
As for the Byron translations, I don't think it would be too difficult to find some, either in libraries (you know, we already talked of that. These places where one can find free books ) or online. And hopefully, the translations will still match what you used the lines for ( ... )
