Fuck, why is there so much hatred in the world again? khohen1 linked to this vid, and I expected to rejoice in seeing a reporter (let alone a Fox News reporter!) tear into one of those fucking anti-gay protesters. I truly did. These people that go protest at funerals? As low as you can get. And that they would do this in the name of god ( Read more... )

I know, right. I can't find any joy in me at seeing this, not even in the fact that Fox News would take a stand against them. (Although it makes sense, as Fox News is very much pro-war.) I just - she vibrates with hatred, you know.

I can't view the clip right now because I'm at work, but is it about those groups who protest at the funerals of American soldiers, saying that the war in Iraq is God's punishment of the US for its acceptance of gay people?

Although the concept of the US as a nation accepting of gay people is pretty laughable, but I guess there's more acceptance than in the MidEast.

Either way, hateful anti-gay protesters make my skin crawl, and to bring that filth into a funeral where people are mourning is disgusting and inexcuseable.

I was raised Catholic and still am a devoted Christian, though I qualify that by saying that I rarely attend church because the things people do in God's name and the intolerance and bigotry that passes as "morality" makes me sick. I love God, but I don't believe He's the vengeful hateful thing that some people believe in. God is love and I believe in my heart of hearts that He's got no problem with homosexuality and has a thing or two to say to these hateful hurtful people.

Yeah, that's it.

I was raised Catholic but never was much of a believer. It's not even the distorsion of religion into something hateful rather than loving that made me lose my faith, I'm just not the type to believe.

But this - god. This goes beyond the simple intolerance religion is so often diverted into. This is just Hatred with a capital fucking H and how do you fight this? You don't, you can't. It's fucking scary.

Too bad it's more a fight than an argument. It's too bad that this horrible woman can't even realise she's telling crap. Too bad she doesn't realise it when the hostess quotes the Bible to her. I hate people who are saying to us thatt they're preaching the word of God and actually telling us to hate others. Maybe it's written in the bible that a union should be between a man and a woman but I don't think it's written anywhere "Thou shall hate the ones that don't share your beliefs". Too bad in this world we don't see the Bible just as legend people can believe in if they want to. Religion should never mess with anyone, it shouldn't create so much hate.

"What a wonderful world" ...

Well the thing is, the god of the ancient testament is much harsher and vengeful and all of that, than the god of the new testament. It's like he matured between the one book and the other. It's easy to find justifications in the bible for contrary behaviours and mentalities. The bible shouldn't be the be-all and end-all of any form of thought, and resting any argument on this text is just wrong. You can argue endlessly. The book is contradictory and you can read what you want into it. For each person it's the question of, are you all about love, or all about hate? And that's that.

"O brave new world,
That has such people in't!"
