so. my mom is moving in with a guy that she met online like, idk, 6 weeks ago? or, i guess, he's moving in with her. i just...cannot with this. i'm glad that she's happy, but i have big big big concerns, obviously. mostly, i'm worried that she's just recklessly jumping at the first chance to cure her loneliness and need to take care of people, ( Read more... )

My mother did the same thing when I was in middle school! I went to my friend's house for the weekend and when I came back home Sunday afternoon there was a man there who she met online. And he never left. O_o Until 8 years later when they broke up and he moved out, but seriously, not the wisest choice. Especially when you barely know the man!

I hope your mom's situation turns out okay.

Ugh. I hope it turns out okay too. My uncle is so bad about doing that with girls he has met online. What's weird is they almost always have kids too and I REALLY don't get moving into a house with a man you just met with your kid. He's a single dad so I guess they feel safe because of that but STILL you never know!! I'm too paranoid to ever do something like that lol.

My friend's dad up and moved to INDIA to marry a woman he met online and had known less than a year. Really a shame he doesn't get to know his grand kids.

Thinking good, safe thoughts for your mom.

I can see why you would have reservations! But when you "know" you "know" perhaps she is lucky enough to have fallen in love quickly happened to me :) And we are still living together years later.

I wouldn't like it very much either :-/ Sometimes when we get older it seems like we need to parent our parents. Best of luck to her! I'm sure everything will be ok :)
