I have a midwife! YAYYYYY! Feeling pretty dang pleased with myself right now. I'm going
to go the birth center route this time, aiming for a waterbirth. For insurance reasons, I'm going to keep my initial appointment on the 21st with my OB, and then transfer care to the birth center for the rest of the pregnancy.

The center's only been open since ( Read more... )

I know people are probably already, and will continue to be, throwing ideas and opinions at you. So I'd like to get mine in early. Haha ( ... )

OH! this was actually pretty high on my "things to research" list. what's the difference between hypnobabies and hypnobirthing? are those the same? i'm so fascinated by this, i've heard so many success stories! awesome.

They are both self hypnosis birthing programs. I suppose they both probably work really well. I can only really speak to the quality of hypnobabies because that's what I use, but I've heard fantastic things about hypnobirthing as well. I think they are the same principles.

Everyone I know likes Hypnobabies better. It's just a more complete childbirth prep as opposed to Hypnobirthing which is mostly just the hypnosis aspect.

Weeee!!!

I wouldn't worry too much about the drive in labour. You are planning a birth at a birth center so you will likely go in a lot earlier in labour when the contractions are much easier to bear and not so close together.

I had a hospital transfer from a homebirth and had an oh so lovely 25 min car ride during transition. I don't recommend that at all. lol. Pretty sure I dropped 4 F-bombs a minute during that ride.

YAY!!!! That is so amazeballs...super happy for you!

The hospital where I delivered Hannah was 45 minutes away and my labor was only 6 hours long, but we made it in plenty of time. AND idk if it was the angle of the seat or the rhythmic bumping of the road but my contractions felt so mild in the car on the way there that I began to think it was false labor. Then I stood up at the entrance to the ER and WOAH! lol

Awwww, yay!!!! Are you gonna pay Cassie to come out and be your doula? So excited for you! I wish I had known as much as you do going into my first birth. I definitely would have done either birth center or a homebirth.
