My Moon Cards

Sep 04, 2009 11:51

Since talking to Luness, I've been doing some research on the moon and its symbolism relating to women's cycles. I came across My Moon Cards, a low-budget but intriguing project which seeks to educate women about their cycles by using a set of cards which describe the different phases of the cycle. Since you can see the cards on the website but ( Read more... )

The cards keep reminding me somehow of a cross between Monopoly and um...I don't know.

Cool stuff. Wish someone had got them for me when I was a teenager.

Yes, they'd be very useful at that stage, especially when you're still burning with shame at the very thought of going out to buy tampons.

They are a bit like a card game, aren't they! Reproductive System Monopoly. The mind boggles. The way they keep laying them out on the site looks like they're about to do a tarot reading, which is particularly funny considering the way I am currently meditating on my quilting colour swatch cards.

Thanks for posting this. I agree that the holistic approach is really nice, and I'm probably going to revise my own spreadsheets.

I don't see where they say that the LP is 14 days for everyone. They give a 10 day progesterone phase, and then a 3-5 day pre-period phase.

Your color meditations sound interesting. I'm inspired to pay more attention to my color preferences as well. Will you post your results here? I wouldn't have picked blue for ovulation either.

I like the video. Cheesy, but informative. If only my partner would watch it, he would understand! XD

Yes, the video was rather cute, I was just too busy giggling! Oh well, different strokes for different folks, and they're probably a lot less stiff and artificial-sounding when they're performing to a group of people rather than being filmed.

As I said, I found quite a number of errors in there, the 14 day LP being the most glaring. It also failed to mention that a lot of women experience an increase in libido during their periods, which would have been nice to put in there. I wonder if the project is still alive? Nothing on the site or blog seems later than 2007. It might be interesting to try to set up our own version, using a group of people to discuss what the different stages should be and the technical details, and then share experiences about how we actually feel during the different stages.

My colour meditations so far (they're not really meditations, it only takes about a minute, the real meditation is when I stare at a nice photo and that strange breathing thing for five min four times a day):

Ok, I have chart envy. I would love to see how you did that!

Lavender makes a lot of sense for ovulation. Or maybe emerald green. I agree about orange - I'm definitely more attracted to orange when I'm lacking sleep.

My chart is based on the one that the OP of this post made and then I customized it. I keep tweaking it, still ( ... )

Right, how to make my charts. First of all, you can't make them quite the same in Excel, it's missing the line plus bar feature. I use Open Office Calc. You'll be creating two charts, and using the line plus bar version of the charts, which requires that for each section of data that will be turned into a chart, the columns that will become bars need to be on the left and the columns that will become lines need to be on the right ( ... )
