Cel-phone Facts And Rules For Our Household
We were fairly certain pretty much everyone knew how cel-phone usage worked in our household (after all, only memori_lain actually has one and she's mentioned it to people before... on the phone, no less!), but apparantly not everyone either 1) remembers or 2) listened.
So, here it goes (again, for most):

had asked us for a ride home from where she works, to be picked up after Elle picks me up... the person was supposed to call the cel-phone at 5:15 so we knew where exactly to pick the person up at a mall that's not near where we live nor where I work (in other words, out of our way).
We showed around that time, turned the cel-phone on... and found messages waiting from throughout the morning. The time during which I was at work and Elle was at home, excepting a Dr.'s appointment she had at 11a concerning herself and the spawnling-to-be. Not a single call to the apartment at all. The messages eventually leading the the someone having asked someone where the person works for a ride home so the person didn't need one ( ... )

cell phones... memori_lain March 29 2007, 13:59:30 UTC
are something that people don't take seriously enough in my humble opinion. When cell phones first came out they were meant to provide people a means of contact in cases of an emergency. My dad, who has worked for Verizon for almost 20 years, even thinks that it's gotten out of control. While I don't agree with my husband that cell phones are more an inconvenience than anything else, I do find that people rely on them needlessly when they know the home number that we can be reached at. Cell phones are not for everything, and people using them as house phones is retarded...unless that person has a job where they are nearly never home or doesn't have a home to have a land-oline connected to.

All-in-all, almost everyone that we know knows that my cell phone is hardly ever on so leaving a message on it is risky. This is especially true now that our daughter has learned that mommy's cell phone is a fun toy. It's not to serve any other purpose other than a message taker on occasion and a way to get a hold of us in emergencies
