It had been a bad. A really bad day and all Don wanted to do was get into the office, get the paperwork done and go home. So of course it began to rain, he had always hated rain, it just seemed to slow everything down.
“Come on, Megan,” he said as he began to jog towards the building.
“I’ll catch up.”
He didn’t realize how far behind him she was until he got to the door and turned around. His partner was just walking, a smile like he had never seen before on her face. She looked so calm and at peace, he had never seen her look so beautiful before.
“I love the rain,” she said when she reached him pushing a wet strand of hair out of her eyes “It just makes everything feel….”
“Right.”
She smiled at him. “Exactly.”
He touched her arm, ignoring the strange shiver that the small touch illicited. He had always felt things were different with her but this feeling was new. “Come on, we have paperwork and you should get into dry clothes.”
“I must look like a drowned rat,” she said as they walked inside.
He smiled to himself. “Quite the opposite.”
