“I don’t like cons, lets do pros.”
Stella laughed softly and turned her head to look at him, resting her chin on his chest. “David Sinclair, if I didn’t know you any better, I’d think you were pouting.”
He laughed. “I don’t pout.”
“I know this, which is why I said if I didn’t know you any better,” she pointed out.
“True.”
“See how much smoother things go when you agree with me?”
He rolled his eyes. “Anyway, Pros of staying here in Sunny California instead of returning to Dreary New York.”
“The weather.”
“You caught that?”
“It was hard but yes. You’re so unbiased.”
She smiled as she ran her fingers over his chest. This was a lot harder than she had expected. She loved New York, it was her home, the lab was there and that had her family but California had David. After Frankie, it had been extremely hard for her to trust any man that wasn’t Mac, Flack, Danny or Hawkes but David had gotten through to her.
“Sushi.”
“Sushi?”
She nodded. “California’s Sushi is much better than New York.”
“Well, I guess that’s one. After all, you did put no more pizza from New York on the Cons.”
“Hey, you agreed.”
“What? It’s good pizza.”
“Pros…Pros…”
“I am highly offended that this is so hard for you.”
“Now you are pouting.”
“I am not.”
“You.”
“Me?”
She smiled and pushed a stray curl out of her eyes before nodding.
“Pro or Con?”
She swatted him lightly. “Pro.”
He leaned down to kiss the top of her head. “Oh good.”
“I don’t know what to do,” she admitted finally “There are reasons to stay and reasons to go back.”
He sighed softly, running his fingers through her hair. “You have time,” he said softly “I’m not going anywhere and I’m pretty sure New York is staying where it is. Until then, we’ll just see each other when we can.”
“You mean once every six months?”
“No, we’ll make an effort to see each other more. And if all else fails, we can both quit our jobs and move to Texas and become ranchers.”
Stella laughed, turning her face into his chest.
“What?”
“You and me, ranchers,” she said.
He laughed. “Two city kids.”
“We’d have to kidnap Lindsay for the first few months.”
“And with her Colby.”
“Or Danny.”
“Really depends on the month.”
She laughed. “Sometimes, the day.”
