Burning Man: The Good, the Bad, and the Dusty

A somewhat inaccurate title as the source of the "bad" was mostly related to the "dusty".

Anyway, I just came back from my first Burning Man and I'd have to say that the experience was a mixed bag. elarbee asked me to sum up my experience in one word, excluding "dusty", and I just couldn't. Instead I will list it out.

It's one of my completely geeky things that I am highly desirous to do.

I have a buncha folks I know that went this year - had I known you were going, I'd have pointed you in their direction - one of whom hosts a daily hug-cast called HugNation.

Oh, awesome! I definitely want to go to Burning Man, one of these years. I'm glad to hear a review from someone I know.

However, I thought the desert was made of sand, not dust.... ;)

Well I didn't have my ruler with micrometer markings on me at the time, but people kept referring to it as dust and it certainly was much finer than your average sand particle. :)

you limit your abilities by sticking to the clean sheets concept as a cornerstone of your lifestyle

LET IT GO

But I am happy that you made it.

sheets? Well, stay with Poly Paradise. You do not get to sleep on the clean sheets but you get to fuck on clean sheets. They have a play room with whole box of sheets. Use it, put in the dirty box. Of course, other people might be watching you.

I found that putting a rung in my tent at the front part really kept dust down my tent.

I wear clogs. And I wash my feet twice a day. Some people find vinegar baths very helpful. Lotion, lotion, lotion. Clean socks are more important than sheets

our neighbor Dave (who has lived in Seattle for the past year or so) goes to burning man every year. his name is/was Troll one year.

At any rate, he has tried to talk Tim and I into going but after your account I am positive my years of saying NO were a good thing. I cannot handle heat without getting ill and I think that adding all the dust would make matters worse. I think camping in general is fun/cool and I am fine with being down and dirty with nature, but hot and dusty don't quite do it for me.

Coincidentally, the wacky neighbors I talk about...met at burning man. they were both previously married and well long story short what HAPPENS at burning man should stay at burning man (they rent from Dave). They are the most miserable couple I have witnessed since...since high school
