Shannon you will be fine. I was thrown into the job of Housekeeping Manager, you learn as you go. It all comes with experience. You are going to be a great operations manager, you will learn more on the job. You will learn and grow as time goes on in your career.

I really think you have the skills, learning capacity (aka smarts), and personality to over excede this job. Obviously you are scared, maybe terrified, about this, but can do it! You are one of the most capable people I know, even though I know you are think you aren't.
Don't hinder yourself, you are AMAZING and you'll get the swing of things in no time.

I went through the same thing with Fairmont. I did not want to go into housekeeping but that is where they put me saying that I would be able to move around bc I was a mgmt. trainee. I never got to move around...and I never grew to like housekeeping. I actually don't work for them anymore and am looking for another job, possibly outside the hospitality world because I wanted to have a life at 22 instead of working 6 days a week 12 or more hours a day.
I think you will be an amazing manager, but at the same time if your gut is telling you one thing, it's probably right. Again, that's a decision you have to make, because I haven't been following my gut lately and things have gotten pretty messy....but things may be different for you...I don't want to persuade you one way or the other...
