Here is another business idea.

SixApart has just started the Relationship Update Stream service. It's a "friends added and dropped" realtime update feed. It's neat and powerful and useful, and is can do a lot of powerful and scary stuff

It's weird. LiveJournal has always been giving people notifications when people ADD them as friends, but has refused numerous requests to also give notifications for the Removal. I guess even LJ has a limit to how much of Teh Dramah they can put up with.

Drop notification has been in place for almost a year now I think.

Must be a paid user function, because it isn't available to me.
