[She stops. What is she running for? She looks panicked, regardless. She doesn't know why she's so anxious, but suddenly a wave of panic just hit her, and it shows

Then he saw this.

[Yuma responds immediately, still sitting in their house in the Northeastern quarter of the city. She screams the name, her voice more of a wail of a wounded animal than something human.

Before she can say anything more, Yuma freezes and drops the PCD back onto the table, where one can see her Soul Gem darken past anything it can endure and shatter.

The resulting explosion knocks the PCD to the wall, and it quickly gets covered with another set of gigantic, alien letters.]

[He also doesn't see this until a bit later, checking his PCD from underground in the panic room. And though he doesn't know that many details, and Kyoko didn't tell him much that time she spoke about what could happen, he has the sinking feeling he knows what's occurred. Still, he tries anyway.]

The yellow gem in her hand blackens, cracks. She keens, more like an animal in pain than a little girl, before it shatters completely, sending a shockwave of energy strong enough to make the lake nearby ripple violently.
