[...It's been eerily quiet at House #29 lately. The quiet isn't something new to Alexei, or a bother, but it's just strange when you now share the place with someone else that wasn't there. He taps his pen, sitting at his desk and glancing at the blank page in the journal. He's been meaning to talk about something to the general public that he's ( Read more... )

[You may hear someone laughing through the journal. He thinks that noise was you falling off your chair.]

What are you laughing about?

[He thinks you're laughing about his public annoucement :|]

[Give him a minute to catch his breath, the mental image is just too funny.]

At yer age, I would've thought ya knew leanin' back on a chair would probably make ya fall off.

Considering I didn't fall out of my chair, I do know.

I have already been attempting such a thing, but the interest has been limited. If you find enough students, I will consider offering my aid.

Is that so? Well, thank you for offering.

It's my own fault for not following up after I had first originally mention this months ago, when the interest was there.

I am not sure those who cannot fight realize the danger they may find themselves facing. Perhaps you will have more luck than I have.

If you need to contact me, I am Sigmund.

When they haven't been called to arms, the threat doesn't seem like it'll ever effect them.

I will have to, if there's enough interest to call for a meeting. Is there anytime you would not be able to take part, so I may properly schedule it at a later time.

If there are any who need teaching, I did exactly what you are looking to do with my sister. She asked me to teach her to protect herself, and she can do that very well now.

I use a lance, but can also adapt the techniques for use on a sword.

That is actually good to know that you can fight with a weapon different from a sword. I'm sure those who are interested to learn, would like the option to choose. Some weapons work better than others for people.

Your name?

I'm Ephraim of Renais. And I do agree with you, some weapons just don't suit everyone, and some can indeed master more than one too.

A pleasure to meet you, Ephraim of Renais. I'll be looking forward to working with you then.

If and when I do establish a meeting time off the journals, when would you be available?

Yeah, yeah. I'm still around. You want me in on this, you got it.

All right, Goroh. Is there anytime you won't be available when I schedule the meeting?

[Hopefully this falls under that filter because otherwise her immitation of the filter will probably be at 10% at best.

She very nearly doesn't respond, as this falls within the sorts of things she's nervous about talking about over the journals--i.e. something that might catch the Malnosso's attention. But, after a while, she retrieves some kind of writing implement and begins to print in slow and somewhat unaccustomed letters--she doesn't write very often.]

Do you really think a few lessons will make any difference in a war?

[Should be. Alexei glances at the writing for a moment before responding]

Do any of us have a choice? Do the inexperience have a choice? It's better to be prepared in some way, then not at all.

There is too much of a difference between the inexperienced and a soldier. If you get caught, you cannot do anything.

Are you saying you want to give the enemy a chance to take them?

If they can hold their ground long enough for someone to come assist them, then let's at least give them the extra time.
