Is he really overpowered? I thought it was reasonable, considering his father was pretty brilliant in his own right. That and Scorp's been in Ravenclaw, he's been very encouraged to exceed academically and learn more new things. I haven't gone into full detail either, but most of his weaknesses aren't academic or magic-related, they're emotions and dealing with people.
And I didn't mean to give the impression that people don't like him because he's better. Could you point out where exactly you thought that was what I was saying
