With unlimited access to information just a click away, it struck me as funny what we end up doing with it. ("The internet is for porn" springs to mind

First thing I googled this morning - "silk satin fabric" I've given up looking for a store around here that holds any natural fiber fabrics (that was last week's googling - "fabric sewing indianapolis") and I've moved onto internet shopping. It's so dangerous to buy fabric without touching it first, though! Sigh.
Hmmm.....I know it does exist, somewhere around these parts. I 've just gotta remember where. I used to work in a costume shop, and we did purchase things locally. (natural fabrics too, not just what you would expect to find in a theatre).
What do you consider "local"? :) There is a place we used to make annual road trips to, but out here a "road trip" is still less than Bob's old commute.
So....what was the first thing you googled this morning?
Uhhhh....porn.
No..wait.. that was the second thing.
The first was when I read an article from a genealogical society that verified the old family story about how my surnamed family ended up in Louisiana.
Oddly enough, more black history: The Scottsboro Trials.
My freshman are reading To Kill A Mockingbird.
You know what's sad about the Aunt Jemima story? The current trademark ISN'T real person . . . they've streamlined and modernized her into a generic, inoffensive, PC version of her former glory that looks like she couldn't fry chicken if her life depended on.
Because the original, the REAL person, was deemed an "offensive, racist stereotype." I'm still wrapping my head around how an actual, notable, history-making real live black woman is a "offensive stereotype" and an artist's conception that looks like a white woman dipped in shoe polish isn't.
