who knew?

who knew that when channel surfing at 2:30 in the morning that you could stumble upon c-span and actually find something interesting? I just watched a number of presentations on embryonic stem cell research, and learned some stuff...i know...learning...at college?!...anyways, i can understand both sides of the argument now and i can now understand ( Read more... )

honnestly how can stem cell research be so bad (if proven to effectivly work), i mean people die everyday. people kill other people everyday legally, and no one has said anything about that, but when this procedure comes out thats only for the benefit of us all, people have something to say... the embryo has no thought, it's brain is in a mere 1st stage of development it's no more as intellegent as a cow... and we kill them all the fucking time.

but do you want to be the one who's to make that decision....we don't know the promise of adult stem cell research...and in that, there is no need for an embryo at all...when they can generate certain tissues without destroying an embryo, you've just lost all opposition ( ... )

Abortion and stem cell research obviously present interesting dilemmas. When considering embrionic stem cells, you must remember that these embryos are not being harvested for this direct purpose out of a woman. The embryos used for research are frozen 'left overs' from artifical insemination and other procedures. If not used for research, these excess embryos lie dormant for years at a time, effectively being useless (not worthless, but useless). A small percentage obviously goes to mothers unable to produce their own, but not an overwhealming amount ( ... )

i can understand what you're saying...but...where do you draw the line to achieve the net gain...hell...if it were all about the net gain, you might as well grow the embryo to term, let it grow and harvest organs as necessary from the human body....i mean....it can't be alive...it's only a clone...

this is what i'm saying...yes, i can understand that using these embryos for something is better than letting them sit there....or is it?...this, once again, goes to when you call something life...you're creating something simply to destroy it and take what you want from it...personally, i'm not fan of strip mining...
