I get the impression that heavy focusing on any subject, but especially things as illusory and requiring of unwavering belief as faith in any type of god, tends to demystify things, or at the very least brings up new and unremitting questions, assuming they were believers before declaring their major. I don't know. that's an interesting statistic.
