I agree with the commercialism. I don't like that business are capitalizing on what is a very serious matter to some people.
But personally, my favourite part about pride is all the heteros walking around. To me that is what the point is. It's great to have this space for all the various people who are proud of their sexuality where they feel safe and like they are acknowledged. However having those hetero people walking around with their mouths gaping means that they are out there and they are learning about it and they are to some extent open to it. I think it's important to have ALL sexualities out, because otherwise all its doing is serving to further segregate the 'heteros' from the 'queers' and that's not the point. The point is that sexuality shouldn't make a difference to how you are treated!
I'm sure you didn't mean it quite in the way it came across to me, but being disdainful of the 'heteros' seems out of the spirit of pride.
