The call from Captian Vulkonov came at 4:30 in the morning on Tuesday. Webb was less than thrilled to be woken up by his friend, if he could call him that. The information Vulkonov had was important and needed to have some action taken or other. A multi-national smuggling operation, involving nuclear weapons, schematics, bank accounts, and counterfeit paintings.
Much to his dismay, he realized he was the only agent with enough contacts in Russia to break this ring. To make things worse, Annie was the only agent he could think of that had the language skills and the art expertise, to be his backup. Webb wasn't sure how she would take the assignment considering his relationship with her. Before he spoke to Joan, he wanted to speak to Annie to see if she would be willing to go with him.
He had his assistant leave a message on her phone to meet him at one. Since it was mostly a business meeting it could take place at work.
