I got a comment on the first post in this community today, asking me about _thelastaddict. This is one I never fully investigated back when it happened because it was so obviously fake -- talked in bad UK slang, drama overload, friends dying left and right, even the icons and music were straight from the movie "Trainspotting." A friend has his password,

Not sure who the actress is but, at least to me (and i'm not a good detective!) the hair looks kind of photoshopped...

After getting burned really bad last June ... I've become so paranoid of people online.

Now what I don't get is where does that leave violetsahasrara ... is shelinked to all the fake drama? She's on a friend of mine his list, and I even remember having her on my friendslist quite some time ago. Is she related or a participant (or even the sole owner) of all the fake lj's? Because in that case .. I really want to give him a warning.

I've got to assume that she is the one creating the journals since she claims to know them in person. Also her interest list reflects all of their various character points, as if she created fantasy characters to her own liking.

Usually in these fake journal situations, there is one and only one person who knows the non-existent character in person, and that turns out to be the person who is perpetrating the hoax.

It never ceases to amaze me what happens on lj. My faker was really extreme ... she even met all of the lj'ers in person, went from Holland to the US and spent time with them before we found out.

Oh my gosh, that's awful. I'm so sorry that you had to deal with that. It really burns me up to see people take advantage of the kindness of folks they meet on the internet....grrrr.....

Yes. There were a bunch of factually incorrect statements in this post that I didn't bother to correct.

Julie is the baby, and she is, effectively, Craig's second cousin, her mother was Craig's cousin Adele. Hermione is a cat. Angeline is happily married, and the granddaughter of Craig & Tommy's neighbour.

Etc.
I still look at this like they're characters in a story. Because, y'know, that's what they are.

Sorry I screwed some stuff up, but let me remind you that ALL the statements in my post were "factually incorrect" because none of those people, cats or anything ever existed.

"inaccurate" may have been a better word. And they did exist, in the thoughts of many people. So they were incorrect in the same way that saying, um, Jane Eyre was a monkey.

Craig was believable. It's sad that this happened.
Just a quick question though. In _thelastaddict's journal, craig posts in between where she is arguing with james. he says I'm sorry" as to reply to her talking to james. do you know why?

I always thought he was ostensibly apologizing that someone hacked into James' journal and pretended to be him and made her hope he was still alive.

That whole thing chuffed me and I accused her then of fabricating the journals. It wasn't until she "killed" Craig that it came to my attention again.

One of her other characters posted it to ljers4eternity, the community for commemorating lj members who have died. I got annoyed and made a post that it was not appropriate to use the community to expand on creative writing projects and left it at that. They prefer we keep the fake exposing out of that community. It causes a ruckus.
