Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., 1x01

Sep 25, 2013 09:40

I've been a fan of S.H.I.E.L.D. since the Steranko days - and a fan of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. before that. So the announcement of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series filled me with joy and trepidation. I knew it wouldn't be the S.H.I.E.L.D. of my dreams. The tidbits of information Whedon leaked about the story sounded terribly trite... but that man has been ( Read more... )

What are your thoughts about the new MFU movie? I've gone from beating my head against the wall to peeking through my fingers at it. I am cautiously hopeful at this point.

I don't know! It makes my head hurt to think about it. I would love more UNCLE so much. On the other hand.. how could they do it right? And how could I bear it if they didn't? On the other hand, if it's good, I'll be so happy. So...

Mixed feelings.

What I've seen so far has moved me from dread and gloom to wistful hope. The shots of Cavill wearing Napoleon's outfits, down to the pinkie ring, and Hammer wearing a black turtleneck... please, please, please don't let them screw this up with a stupid script!

That's it - so much is in the writing, and the way the characters are written, and the way the actors cope with the script. I hope the writers have the right attitude - and sharp minds.

My husband and I watched it last night also. (I insisted.) We enjoyed it, and definitely plan to continue watching. It was very helpful that we had seen both The Avengers and Iron Man 3.

I especially liked the humor, Skye---and Lola.

Yes, SHIELD has just the right amount of not taking itself seriously, without ridiculing its internal realities. I like that. Plan to watch episode 2 tonight.

Hill must've had a really rough week. In addition to the hair, she sounded...tired.

But then, she's deputy director of the organization, right? Small wonder that we catch her on a bad day.

Yeah, I can agree with all of that. But she also, for Hill, seemed sort of ... soft.

Not a big problem. I can deal with it, if the show is otherwise good, and it seems it is.

I enjoyed the "journey into mystery" line too. On the whole I really liked it - and practically screamed when my cable went out for five minutes about half an hour in.

Oh, no - what a terrible time for the cable to go out!

I watched it again today and liked it even more than I did on Tuesday.

Yeah, I think "interested and intrigued" is the right phrase. I'm a bit put-off by the cookie-cutter look of the younger members of the team, although I love Fitz and Simmons. I need some time to get used to Ward (I'm already calling him 'Agent Asshole'). Coulson is THE MAN, period. I'm trusting it's going to get stronger as it goes along, and I hope the payoff to the Coulson mystery won't be hugely disappointing.

I surprising liked Ward more than I thought I would; he's an odd duck and I'm not quite sure what to make of him. I agree about the cookie-cutter nature of the younger cast members, love Fitz and Simmons, and absolutely adore Coulson. I'm sort of hoping they won't reveal the truth about Coulson, but I probably won't get my wish.
