Monday morning, and winter has come...

Before my Stephen Fry alarm clock went off this morning I woke up to the sound of a snow shovel outside my window. Which hasn't happened since last winter... Uh-oh, thought I.

And so it is. There were a few snow squalls yesterday, but nothing that stayed. Today... different story.

Those of us who can find snow boots to fit, sure.

Meantime, we're all for breaking out the heavier jackets!

How can you do without snow boots in Ottawa? Whether they fit or not?

I've survived a quarter-century in this town, as often as not, without resorting to snow boots. And I'm apparently one of those people with odder-sized feet...

Likewise. I had no boots last year, due to money issues. This year, I was able to buy boots. Unfortunately, I also had to buy new shoes and just started wearing them -- shoes and boots -- this week.

My feet are still not very happy about that. I think they will recover ... but it may take another week or two before the new footwear is broken in.

Ouch - new boots and shoes at once! That's hard on the feet. Don't walk too much for a while.
