And now your medical travails have put me back in mind of Greg Rucka's latest project.

I never knew all of this about you. You're right--if you had to go through all of that in your childhood, you might as well get some enjoyment out of the name for it now. :-) Silver lining and all that.

Heh. I figure my 'silver lining' was, that if I had to have a horrible disfiguring and probably-fatal disease, at least it wasn't a painful one! And though I am scarred, my scars are all hidden under clothes and I think most people don't notice. And, as you might have noticed, Not Dead yet. I realize that some people have horrible pain with scleroderma, not to mention great suffering and death, so luck really was with me.

I think that anything that gets your doctor and you to a better understanding of how your body works and how to get it working optimally has got to be a Good Thing. I hope the progress continues.

And it's cool you can at least get some joy out the name!

I'm hoping for progress in the dry-mouth problem. I think the medicine the GP gave me did nothing much at all.

Most diseases don't have cool names. I think this one is utterly suited to me.

Too few diseases have romantic (or otherwise attractive) names.

So true! This is the only one I can think of offhand. Usually the name are blandly descriptive (if you know Greek) or named after people.
