TV Theme songs...

I found this site: 'TV Music and Song', and instantly went to one of my favourite theme songs from childhood, It's About Time - a theme I haven't heard since, well, 1966. I'd no idea when it was on television - I had to look up the year. I don't even remember the show itself, but I could still sing part of the theme song. For me, that's rare

Yup, remember all the words without following your link. The astronauts flew back and ended up with a group of cave people, and then flew forward taking some of the folks with them - I remember that the actress Imogen Coca was in it.

Do you know the thing about Morse that there was a clue in morse code in the music?

What a great theme song that was. Imogen Coca - yes, I remember her! Vaguely. I'm not sure if I really loved the show, but I loved the idea of the show. And the theme! It mentioned medieval knights!

No, I didn't know about the Morse code in the theme music for Inspector More. Is there a website that talks about it?

Particular favourites among TV themes:

With lyrics: Due South.

No lyrics: That's going to be a lot more difficult. Mainly because of the long list of candidates.

You've probably seen a lot more television than I have. There aren't many shows where I'd even recognize the theme music.

For the longest while, I'd try to get any album dominated by Mike Post's TV theme work. Latest acquisition was Inventions from the Blue Line featuring his NYPD Blue and Law & Order stuff. This, I'd been trying to lay hands on for over a decade, and emusic.com finally made it happen.

Mike Post... am I right in thinking he did the theme for Stephen J. Cannell's Stingray? One of my favourite TV shows ever.

I also love M*A*S*H; saw the tv series before the film but I had to buy the 7" single once I heard lyrics.

Morse was such a refreshing change. It was very popular; the other half bought the LP (gosh, that goes back a bit then ) of the full soundtrack.

I shall bookmark that site - although one theme which I'm searching for is one they're also looking for. That at least is a step forward: that someone else remembers the programme...

The New Land. At least I'm assuming they're looking for the same one I remember :) Mid 70s tale of early pioneers - a bit like Little House on the Prairie.
I do have a cassette with it on but even all the other half's superb hi-fi equipment can't resurrect the absolutely appalling quality of the recording, sadly.

I listened to a couple, and was glad to find the theme music for Doc, which I've been wanting to listen to again for a long time... except that what they have there is completely unrelated to the music in my memory. It's possible that "my" music is really from some other show, and I've mis-tagged it.

I tried entering "my" music into the Musepedia search engine, without success. It's much better at finding classical music than "pop" tunes.

I think my favourite tv theme (with lyrics) would be 'The greatest American hero', very catchy!
Without lyrics, it's got to be the Hawaii Five O theme - although the NCIS LA theme is running a close second!
