Everything changes, everything comes to an end...

I had my last physiotherapy appointment today. Good-bye to Leslie the physiotherapist, who gave me a full assessment: I'm getting strength back in my left arm and shoulder faster than she expected, though from my point of view it's still weak as half a kitten. She said that when she first saw how badly damaged my arm was, she pretty much freaked ( Read more... )

So you've already exceeded her expectations and hopes. That bodes well for future efforts, carefully undertaken.

Hope is good. Hope grounded in fact, better still...and that's what you've got now.

Yeah. I can only imagine how much worse it might be. Here I am, typing as if nothing ever happened!

I remember my last PT appointment for my shoulder. My PT asked, "am I going to have to kick you out of here or will you leave on your own?" I was a bit disconcerted, but then I looked up at her and she was grinning at me.

She and I had a good relationship, considering she was 10% sadist [g]. And she got me functional again, almost in spite of myself, for which I will always be grateful.

I think physiotherapists have to be a little bit sadistic, hurting us for our own good. Leslie was great, and I'll miss her. Her advice always made me feel better.

I've been mostly off LJ for ages so didn't read about your fall and surgery until now - {{{{{hugs}}}}}! Good luck for your continued recovery...!

Thanks so much for the kind words. So nice to see progress... I know it isn't really a long time as healing goes, but it feels like it.

So now - back to my exercises!

Many thanks. I'm just taking a break from exercises to look at LJ... it seems all the more important to do my exercises now I don't have professional help with them.

Can you do exercises while reading LJ?

I haven't found a way. The exercises involve a lot of concentration, so doing anything much else while doing them is counterproductive. Audiotapes and music work, generally, but I find there's no point doing it with the TV on - I miss whatever it is entirely.

And reading anything just wouldn't be possible.
