When I was in Paris, there was a little grocery store around the corner from us on Ile Saint-Louis that sold fresh figs. I'd never seen fresh figs before - not in Ottawa stores. So I bought them on the theory that since I love dried figs, I'd love the fresh variety. And so I did. Tasia showed me how to eat them. I had them with breakfast just ( Read more... )

It's spookily delightful how well that works!

(Dear Universe, please find a way for me to go back to the UK next year...)

Figs are love! I had a wonderful dessert once where you fill fresh figs with goat milk cream cheese (but should work with normal cream cheese too), drop a little honey on it and sprinkle it with rosmary, then grill it over. Delicious!

Ooh, sounds lovely! I must try that recipe - now I can get the ingredients. Assuming I'll be able to do so again.

You gotta experiment a bit with how much honey and rosmary you like, there are no set measures. Enjoy!

Welcome back, with lots of hugs.

Did you VOTE yet? :-)

There are no obvious puns. Except in your head. (and the heads of others like you.)

I adore fresh figs. I have eaten one plucked straight from the tree, sun-warmed, in the Roman Theatre in Arles. Doesn't get much better than that! (It was years ago, and they seem to have tidied the tree out of the way since, but such a memory!)

Now, that's one of those great memories - ! I am envious. I's love to visit Arles.
