...And loving it. Today:
  • visited Anne de Montmorency's lovely palace at Ecouen
  • Heavy traffic and construction on the way back, so I slept on the bus
  • Walked on the streets Lymond followed when he samed Mme le Marechale from the soldiers in Checkmate
  • Saw the site of the Hotel d'Hercule
  • visited the Saint-Chapelle with rosiespark and then visited her for ( Read more... )

No, no one seems to know why he was named Anne. A historical mystery!

Accounts of the duck dinner will follow. Today I had a hamburger au saumon for supper at the Place Saint-Denis, across from the basilica. Creme brulee for dessert.

Sigh. I wish I were there with you, especially the eating part.

I'm told there is a restaurant in La Place des Vosges where one can get the perfect Mousse au Chocolat--so perfect that all other ones fail to please quite so much. My husband had it, and will be forever disappointed that he can't have it again without great effort and cost.

I wish you'd been there, too, and the eating part was (mostly) wonderful.

Seems to me that Mousse au Chocolat is a good reason to go back to Paris.
