Joy...

From Fannish 5 back on Jan. 15: list 5 fannish things that are bringing you joy right now.

  1. The Eleventh Doctor, with Amy Pond.
  2. Castle, especially scenes with banter between Castle and Beckett, and scenes in which Castle is with Alexis.
  3. White Collar, especially when Neal and Peter are together; bones points for the addition of Mozzie or ( Read more... )

What's bringing me joy right now is more basic and hands-on -- somehow, my visit with Rita yesterday has left me alive with the anticipatory joy of wanting to write many things. She asked me a very simple question: "What would you say to your 11-year-old self...?" and I had no answer, because the two of us (young me and me now) do not have a common means of communications, but then... actually, I do have an answer. But you'll have to wait, to see what it is.

When I was in the hospital in January, I was surprised to hear a preview for Iron Man 2, as I was suddenly under the impression that it had been our for months already. I think I sidestepped into another parallel universe again, there. It happens.

There are other things giving me joy, but the question was explicitly fannish.

I'm glad you have an answer to Rita's question. Sounds like a productive session.

Seems to me the smoke has barely cleared after the first Iron Man movie - !

Oh? Share. I want to hear about your joy.

My fannish joys right now include re-watching Stargate SG-1 DVDs, which I did last week when feeling so sick from the lingering cold... the familiarity just soothed so well.

You can never have too many things that bring you joy! :)

I need to catch up on Castle. I liked the first season.

I think the characterization has deepened in Castle.

I finally gave in to all the rave reviews of Firefly and watched the first episode (mostly because I realised Nathan Fillion was in it - my initial thought upon hearing about it was "space western? wtf?"), and was quite pleasantly surprised. I was intrigued. If it wasn't one o'clock in the morning, I'd go straight to the next episode.

Many people I know watched Castle because of Firefly. It's fun to see someone do it the other way round. Firefly is utterly wonderful, wonderful, one of the best shows ever. Unlike Alexis, I have no problem with the idea of a space western!

If the first episode you saw was "Serenity" (and it probably was), you have many good episodes ahead of you. When they originally aired the show, they showed them entirely out of order, which was slightly surreal.

Do you have a favourite character yet?
