I absolutely adore this version of Reis Glorios, though I don't suppose it's very authentic.

It makes me wish we could take a TARDIS or a Time Bubble to one of those castles and record the original singers. See how they did it.

Best we can do it try to recreate, which is fun, too.

It's not a bad instrumental version, but it's better sung (I have sung it unaccompanied in public). I'm puzzled by the use of the Pyrenean castles in the video: Guiraut was one of the Lemozi troubadours.

I wondered what the castles were! Do you know specifically what they were?

You're welcome! When I find the time to browse for more, I plan to.

Better to invest in some decent CDs.

I'd get better music that way, and I'm planning to do that, but the act of browsing is fun. Seeing what different people have made of these things. It adds an interactive element.

Sinfonye did a nice setting of Bietris de Romans' Na Maria. (I think there was some issue over the name of the dedicatee: but the wording suggests a real woman, not the Virgin.)
Gerard Zuchetto's Troubadours Art Ensemble and the Martin Best Ensemble are my favourites.

I'm so glad that people are still doing this music.
