John Barrowman in concert... Royal Hall, Villa Marina, Isle of Man

Aug 05, 2009 06:04

John Barrowman in concert... Royal Hall, Villa Marina, Isle of Man. Last Thursday. It's taken this long for me to sit down and type it up, and goodness knows a lot of my notes (written in the dark, while entralled by what was happening on the stage) aren't particularly legible. Still... the memory is still fresh and exciting.

When my tickets... )

He talked about his coming role in La Cage Aux Folles as being 'difficult' and urged everyone to "come and see me perform in a dress".

We went to see that show on my birthday - beautifully-staged and enormous fun. He'll have a ball, but there are definitely some genuine emotional "acting" bits which he'll find demanding.

Lovely write-up.

I saw an amateur production of La Cage on stage in Ottawa once - it was terrific, though I'm sure the one in London will be loads better. Beautifully written and choreographed. And, yes, moving. How I wish I could come back and see it!

Glad you enjoyed my account of the evening. Such lovely memories now.

I'm pretty sure he was on Fifth Gear, not Top Gear. Thought I would love to see him on there. I know David Tennant has been on Top Gear.

Still it's sounds like you had a great time.

Yes, Fifth Gear. I was confused because I really don't know either show.

This whole trip has been wonderful, and Barrowman's concert was all it should be, which says a lot.

Fifth Gear is on Channel five in the UK and Top Gear is of course on the BBC. Fifth Gear is actually the old format of Top Gear.

But Top Gear is the most popular out of the two.

Er... of course.

Would I be right in guessing that fifth gear is a gear you wouldn't use in driving unless you were racing?

I actually saw an episode of Top Gear once, or part of one. It was the episode featuring Christopher Eccleston. I loved it.

Great writeup! Thank you for taking notes so you could let us know what he actually said during the concert. :-)

I'm really looking forward to seeing John in La Cage Aux Folles!

My pleasure. You should see my notes! Illegible, and sometimes I wrote over the same line over and over, so it's just a blotch of ink.... If/when I remember more, I'll post it. Glad you enjoyed.

And I so wish I could see La Cage!

You've mentioned before that he said I Won't Send Roses sums him up. What do you think he means by that? (I don't know the song)

Where is he performing La Cage and why haven't you gone there? *g*

Here he is singing it - I don't know how that would sum him up.

I think he's being self-depricating there.

psst he wrecked that car on Fifth Gear - not Top Gear - they're on totally different channels...

Glad to see you're still having a good visit.
