She wasn't too happy at having to take the darn thing again but she failed at christmas, only by 5 marks but never the less she had to re do it. ( Read more... )

I hope Victoria does well pn her exam retake...she's taking the right approach by planning on a variety of subjects in a wide spectrum of fields for her first year of college...that gives you a better sense of what you're good at and really enjoy than focusing on one narrow field too early, and most people I know changed majors or didn't decide until junior year...my sister actually had to do an extra semester because she declared herself a math major early on, then decided she hated math and had to go back and refocus her studies in a different direction.

LOL...your husband and his amps reminds me of my boyfriend and his video gear...he's a professional videographer so his front room is always cluttered with whatever gear he needs for the next job, plus whatever new "toys" he's just acquired. I try to nod politely in all the right places. ;) And of course I work part time for a musician so I'm always hauling instruments (and occasionally amps) around.

Aw man do I not need dessert recipes right now. ;) Sounds good though...

I think that it's wrong for a 15 year old to be considering what they want to do fr the rest of their lives but that is how the system works over here. It's not the end of the world if she does want to change her mind anyway. And having the sciences means that there are lots of other things she can do if she does give up on the vet thing.

The recipe was really good. I don't like marzipan so I left that out of mine but the ones with it were just as good according to hubby. Victoria just pinched the bits that were left over.

In America childhood does seem to last a lot longer than it does anywhere else, though lately the Japanese are giving us a run for our money with the Otaku phenomenon. ;) But I do think it's a good idea to have a briad spectrum of classes as you enter university then narrow your focus as you find a good fit for your interests and skills. Too often kids have a basic ideal and are generally good in a certain area (like science or reading) but learn they aren't so good at more specified classes they'll need for a particular career. Taking a lot of different science courses will give Victoria both specialization and flexibility in case she decides she'd prefer another area.
