A Convenient Fraud

Oct 09, 2007 17:00

I am one of few people who simply do NOT buy the whole Global Warming thing. Too many accredited scientists plus respected writers AND one of the co-founders of GreenPeace have had the guts to come out and basically say it's all bullshit. I am in that camp. One of my favorite journalist in Australia, Andrew Bolt, also believes it's all BS and harps ( Read more... )

You already know this, but I agree with you 100%. Too many respectable people have PROVED a lot of that stuff simply isn't true! More fun facts ( ... )

Exactly. This guy doesn't give a shit about what he preaches. He's terrifying people to make himself more $$$$$ and that's the beginning and end of it. I think he, and those that ride his coattails, are despicable.

Don't even get me started on how fucking moronic so called entertainers and musicians are helping to preach this garbage. Leonardo Di Caprio, I'm looking at you.

Thank you for posting this I have been very concerned about the introduction of this propoganda into our schools.

Ch4 recently had the guts to run a program on the conspiracy.

I notice they also ignore the warming trends on Neptune,Jupiter and Mars which are identitical claiming they are due to local factors. Yep local that big hot thing at the center of the Solar system.

I'm extremely sceptical and worry that long term it may actually undermine so eco-friendly policies that are actually needed. Things like fishing moritouria etc.

Yeah, I saw that programme. It was excellent :)

Yep local that big hot thing at the center of the Solar system.

LOL! True!

You're probably right. God only knows what it's undermining :/

Paxman just had the government minister squirming on this . Surprising really as the BBC has been a bastion of global warming (sorry its climate change now)

Pft. Sorry I missed that!

Paxman doesn't strike me as someone who'd cowtow to his employers. Plus I'm sure he knows if the BBC fired him 4 would snap him up ;p

Go him :)

It's another perfect example of fallacy. It reminds me (since I was just recently at one) of those dinner shows that try to sell you their product. They try to scare you into believing that you are eating unhealthy and cooking in unhealthy cookware so you'll buy their stuff. That's their tactic, scare you into buying & believing it. It's rather irritating ( ... )

I honestly don't think the changes have been overly significant. Not when I think back over my childhood and teens etc. I think it's just with all the talk and scare tactics you notice the weather more. We get good summers and bad summers and the last one (here) was utterly non existent - but it happens, y'know? There's always been freak snowstorms, hail, unseasonable heat etc etc. And I have no doubt this will continue. It's not man's fault though and saving every drop of water or turning off lights or w/e won't make a smigdeon of difference to anything, with the possible exception of your bills ;p [That's a general you btw, not a specific one lol!]

I also agree about the scare tactics with anything - it's a rotten way to get ppl to part with their money. The lack of conscience in some never ceases to amaze me. It's sad. How can you sleep at night knowing you're scaring the crap out of people with lies? ugh.

And yup, no matter what is or isn't happening, I'll always complain about the weather too lol!

Well you know when it snows in Los Angeles and San Antonio and not here, somethings wrong ;p lol

And BTW, our weather now is absolutely beautiful! *not complaining at the moment* Actually I only complain when it's hot, I love the cooler/cold weather :D

With the deepest respect, it's snowed at least 20 times in L.A. in the last 100 years. It's not a huge deal :P It's also snowed in San Antonio before too :x I wouldn't worry, really :) The weather is cyclical and you get higher and lower periods of hot/cold every so often is all. But, if you disagree that's ok. I wouldn't want to argue with you over it :) We can agree to disagree.

Quel surprise - it's freezing here, just like it has been all 'summer'. pfffffft *pouts*

If you enjoy the cooler weather you should move here then - there's hardly any danger of heat ;p

I made a point to read this. I guess, I just don't understand how all this deceit can be happening so openly. But then again, I am really not that aware of political agenda's.

it's not that politics (or saving the earth!) aren't important to me, I just find politics to be confusing and very sneaky. Same with the law.

I sort of hate the fact that I agree with this, because when I'll try to explain this to anyone, they probably will disagree, and I won't have the facts memorized.

But really, mostly, I'm relived to hear this.

Although - here is an angle to consider. Perhaps as to not make it such a 'omg time is running out' case, they're scaring us way before we need to be scared? Prevention?

But yea - scaring children, that's not good. I know that in an e-mail I told you how I was scared silly in grade school at the Planetarium when they told us how the sun was going to 'go out.' Augh!

I'm going to 'mem' this. Ty for posting.

I'm happy you read it :)

It's open and wide-spread for a variety of reasons. One of the main ones being the media. Not long after the wall fell (in Berlin) and the cold war ended, 'journalists' had nothing cool to report about - so they focused on 'the greenhouse effect/global warming' etc. Being dramatic and scary for the news is v.important for ratings/circulation/profit. Anyway, it became a 'thing'. Also, as I said before, scientists use it as an excuse for grants and many are happy to distort their findings for this. You need to be a courageous scientist to call out the masses. Many have lost their jobs and have been openly threatened for disagreeing - which of course scares and intimidates the not-so-brave ones.

Many claim all this scare mongering is for prevention and education. It cracks me up (I'm long past the being upset phase). It also helps you figure out who your smarter celebrities are. Any celeb who climbs aboard this bandwagon instantly loses points for me. I deem them stupid and/or lazy for not researching it ( ... )

Thank you :)

I think most people write well when passionate. Please forgive the errors. When passion is involved, the spelling etc tends to suffer lol!

Thanks again. And yes, I read Dawn :)

Well, flame wars are different. They rapidly descend into insane rants, shouting matches and personal hits. I was talking about level headed people speaking of something they love. :)
