[Reviews] Movie Night, episode 6!

[Somewhat belatedly again...]

I'm starting to think that there needs to be a specific genre tag for what might be described as recursive horror. Especially in cinema. Because oh look, here's another good one... ( Spoilers: John Carpenter's Cigarette Burns. )

I think the Masters of Horror series is great: actually, I liked that they're an hour long, as it's a different template for directors to get to grips with (and also, I watch a lot of indie horrors and if there's one unpardonable sin for me it's those people who can't bear to edit anything out, resulting in a film which outstays its welcome.)

Good review - I enjoyed it.

Have you seen any of the rest of the series?

Oh, I can see that the format has its merits - I just think that particular story would've benefited from being given more room.

^_^ Thanks!

And I haven't seen any of the others yet, but I've got a copy of Dreams in the Witch House sitting on the stack awaiting attention...

I liked Dreams in the Witch House (as a Lovecraft/Stuart Gordon geek, it's an obvious one) although some of the effects disappointed me...

I really liked the Takashi Miike one, though I can see it's not for everyone.

John Carpenter does have a bit of a thing for recursive horror - have you seen In the mouth of madness? If not, you really should. If you have, isn't it awesome?
